Junior A Hurling: On Saturday the 02/10/21 the
lads played round 4 of the JAHC against Crecora Manister in Fedamore. Crecora
came out of the blocks with all guns blazing and inside the opening minute saw
them having scored 1:01. Eoighan O'Neill responded with a point from play to
settle the lads. Conor McCarthy added two more points before Enda Frawley gave
the Crecora keeper absolutely no chance with a rocket of a shot after some
fantastic build up play. Crecora pulled it back to a one point game with a free
from long distance before Conior McCarthy and Micheal Martin added more scores
before the water break to see bally leading 1:06 to 1:03. The second quarter
was a tight and physical affair with both sides getting really stuck in. with
bally only getting one point in that quarter and Crecora scoring two frees.
Half time scoreline was Bally 1:07 Crecora 1:06. Bally started the livelier of
the two teams after the break and Enda Frawley made no mistake again to punish
a mistake by the Crecora defence to get his second goal of the day. Both Cathal
O'Neill and Conor McCarthy traded points for the rest of the quarter to leave
it 2:09 to 1:11 going into the last quarter. Crecora levelled it up quickly
before ball hit back with two scores, one from Alan O'Riordan to put our noses in
front. a brace of points from Conor McCarthy saw us leading by two going into
added time. Disaster then struck as a high dropping ball in around the square
was dealt with by confusion by the Bally defence and somehow managed to end up
rolling over the line. Crecora finished it up by adding another point to see
them win out on a scoreline of 2:15 to 2:13. A sickening blow for the lads at
the death as they had fought brilliantly all evening and did not deserve to
loose. The lads now play Templeglantine on Saturday 09/10/21 at 3pm in Feenagh
in the final group game. This is a massive game as Bally, Caherline and Crecora
are all going into this round joint top of the group on 6 points each. Please
come out and support the lads.
Junior B Hurling: Our Junior Bs played the east semi
final against Fedamore on Sunday in a very wet Cappamore. The first score of
the game was a goal by Colm Teefy who used all his experience to get in behind
the defender under a high ball to make it one on one with the keeper and make
absolutely no mistake. The conditions were very testing for both teams and a
lot of frees were given. David Grimes was on absolute fire from the frees with
saw him add six points to the score board in the first half. Half time
scoreline Bally 1:06 Fedamore 0:03. Fedamore came out a different team in the
second half in this do or die clash. They clawed the game back to four points
before some fantastic play by Seamus Bourke to keep a ball that was going wide
in play and he teed it up lovely for Denis Stack who pulled first time to put
the ball in the back of the Fedamore net again. Fedamore responded brilliantly
with a point which saw bally lead by 6 going into the last quarter. David Ryan
with a monster of a point to really get the crowd going was responded with 1:01
from Feadmore who were clawing themselves back into the game. David Grimes
again gave bally a bit of breathing room from the dead ball, but Fedamore would
not go away and continued to added some score in the final moments. The bally
defence remained defiant to see out a very well earned victory on a scoreline
of Bally 2:08 Fedamore 1:09. The lads are now in the East final against
Cappamore. Fixture details to be announced later.
