U21 Footballer through to County Final !!

U21 Footballers were out again last weekend and once again ground out a deserved victory by the narrowest of margin against Kildimo Pallaskenry in the All-County B championship semi-final and secured their place in the county final. The match was played under lights at the UL pavilion on Sat night last in terrible windy and rainy conditions. Bally played the first half with the advantage of the elements. It took some time for both sides to adopt to the conditions and Kildimo Pallaskenry started strong and put Bally’s backs  under pressure but the lads all worked hard with big performances from Jack Owens and Sean Teefy  denied Kildimo Pallaskenry a number of scoring opportunities early on. Both sides then exchanged scores as the match progressed with Conor McCarthy and Conal Ryan getting Bally’s first scores. As the middle of the half approached Bally upped it a gear with Gearoid Mitchell controlling the play around the middle of the field with good support play for his brother Matt and Adrian Lennon in the half forward line. Bally then started to dominate play and some excellent forward play resulting in a series of well executed points from Daniel McGuire, Conor McCarthy, Conal Ryan and John Stack . These points combined with a well worked and superbly finished goal from John Stack  gave Bally a healthy 8 point lead at the interval (1-8 to 0-3). Despite playing against the elements in the second half Bally started the half well and both sides exchanged points with Conor McCarthy converting 2 points for Bally. However as the middle of the half approached and with the help of the prevailing wind and rain Kildimo Pallaskenry upped their  performance and converted a series of scores and kept reducing Bally’s lead and converted 1-4 consecutive scores and narrowed the margin to a single point as the final whistle approached. Bally dug deep to hold out in the end and once again secured the win with the narrowest of margins demonstrating the resilience and work rate of this you talented team. Well done to all involved and Bally are now through to the B county championship final (Opposition, Venue and date yet TBD): Team: Dylan Conway, Shane O’Neill, Colm Nicholl, Jack Owens, David Ryan, Alan O’Riordan, Sean Teefy, Matt Mitchell, Gearoid Mitchell, Adrian Lennon, Conor McCarthy, Daniel McGuire, John Stack, Conor Grene, Conal Ryan, Cathal O’Neill, Colm Power, Kevin Blackwell, Jamie O’Donoghue ..
