Junior B Footballers great win over Knockane but Kilteely/Dromkeen too strong..

28/Apr/2014

Junior B footballers had a busy week last week playing Knockane on Thur April 24th in Caherelly. Knockane won the toss and opted to play with the wind in the first half. Bally started well and scored the first point from a free by Michael Wilkinson. We were defending well as a unit and worked the ball into John Stack who scored a brilliant goal to the top right corner. We were well on top and continued to keep the scoreboard ticking over with a point from a free from Liam O'Rourke. Knockane were keeping the pressure on and scored a good goal to reduce our lead. John Stack, Colm Teefy and John Casey were getting on a lot of ball in the forwards we scored the final point of the half through Liam O'Rourke from open play to put us 3 points ahead at half time. We now had the wind at our backs but didn't start strongly and failed to score in the first 10 minutes, but Hugh Leonard, Paul Martin and Colm Nicholl were working very hard and we got the reward when John Stack and Conor Grene kicked good points from play. Michael Wilkinson and William Hanley were outstanding in midfield from start to finish and we were holding possession well. Mark O'Dea and Denis Stack were playing well and we added another point, scored by Liam O'Rourke accurately over the bar from an awkward angle. Joseph Teefy was introduced with just under 10 minutes to go, he was very effective in the forwards and got the final score of the game when he found the back of the net in the bottom corner. Final Score Bally 2-6 Knockane 1-0. Panel: Jamie O' Donoghue, Hugh Leonard, Sean Browne, Richard Coughlan, Mark O'Dea, Paul Martin, Colm Nicholl, Michael Wilkinson (0-1), William Hanley, Conor Grene (0-1), Denis Stack, Liam O'Rourke (0-3), Colm Teefy, John Casey, John Stack (1-1), Kevin Ryan, Joseph Teefy (1-0). Junior B footballers also took on Junior A footballers Kilteely Dromkeen on Sun last in Kilteely. The lads put in a tremendous effort and battled hard through a very closely contested 70 minutes. Kilteely led at half time on a scoreline of 0-5 to 1-0 with Colm Teefy scoring getting Bally’s first half Goal. Kilteely started the stronger scoring 2 goals early in the 2nd half but Bally never gave up and reduced the margin in the end to 5 points with points from John Stack and Conal Ryan and well finished goal from Brian Carroll. Final score 2-2 to 2-7 in Kilteely’s favor but nevertheless a great team effort and performance against a strong well balanced Kilteely side.
