Intermediate Hurlers played Claughan in the County Intermediate Championship relegation playoff on Saturday last in the Gaelic Grounds.Claughan got off to the better start with the breeze and racked up 4 points before Michael Wilkinson got Bally on the scoreboard. Both sides exchanged frees and late into the half Michael Wilkinson converted the last score of the half leaving the scoreline 0-3 to 0-6 in favour of Claughan. Bally however got off to a much better start in the second half scoring 3 consecutive points, 2 from Michael Wilkinson and 1 from Mark O’Dea drawing the sides level before Claughan were awarded what could be described as a soft Penalty which they converted and shifted the momentum in Claughan’s favour. This was followed with 2 further points for Claughan opening a 5 point advantage. Bally however responded with a well taken goal from Enda Frawley but that did not dampen Claughan’s efforts as they continued to keeping the points flowing. Bally again upped their performance in the latter part of the half and came within 3 points when a long range free from Michael Wilkinson landed in the back of the net. This was followed with a well taken point from Kevin Ryan, however time was not on Bally’s side and the match ended 1-14 to 2-9 in favor of Claughan.

Thanks to all who participated in the 2012 Cul camp and it was a great success & especially great to see so many girls take part . Unfortunately we were rained out on Wed but the sun shone and the rained stayed away for the rest of week so the kids did great work on their skills ably assisted by a great bunch of coaches led by Sean Herbert. As always Friday was the highlight with the arrival of county player Paudie O Brien who was kept more than busy signing hurleys, jerseys and anything else the kids could think of. Congrat to Sean Teefy who will represent the club in the all county skills competition.
