Club News week commencing July 9th

Our Intermediate Hurlers lost to Dromin Athlacca in the All County Hurling League last week.

Minor Hurlers lost to Monaleen on Friday evening last July 6th in Monaleen despite a spirited performance in poor conditions.

U14 Football and Hurling:   Over the last 2 weeks we took on Knockainey twice in the u14 Football and Hurling Championship. First up we travelled to Knockainey for the Football. Knockainey started the better in this game and led 1-1 to no score after 5 minutes but from this point we took over for the rest of the half and led at half time by 3-4 to 1-1. For the 2nd half Knockainey again started much the better but this time they took all the scoring opportunities that came their way. We struggled to convert chances we created and ultimately lost out by a goal 5-5 to 4-4.  On last Wednesday Knockainey travelled to Caherelly for the Hurling Fixture. This was a much better performance over the whole game from our full team. We led at half time 4-3 to 0-1 and despite the concession of an early 2nd half goal we steadied the ship and won out by 4-8 to 1-1. This performance was especially pleasing as we were missing a number of players through holidays and injuries and all the players that started or came on as a sub did very well. Panel: Dylan Conway, James Garvey, Darragh Kelly, Jamie Doran, Adam McCarthy, Sean Teefy, Liam Nicholl, Niall Mitchell, Gearoid Mitchell, Jason Cross, Adam Shier, Jack Owens, Cillian McCarthy, Jack Cross, Conor Garvey, James Pinder, Daniel Owens, Lewis Rogers, Ryan Hickey. We would also like to wish  Eoghan O Neill a speedy recovery from an injury he picked up at the county league final.

Best Wishes: The club would also like to offer John O’Dea our best wishes and a speedy recovery following his recent operation.

Fixtures:  Junior B Hurlers play  Pallas on Friday evening next July 13th in Boher at 7.30 pm.  U14 Footballers play Hospital on Wednesday July 18th in Hospital.  The next round of County Intermediate hurling  championship will be played week ending August 5th against Knockaderry.
