Club News week commencing July 2nd


U16 Hurlers (Naomh Brid) played Hospital Herbertstown on Monday July 2nd in Caherelly. The lads put in a solid first half performance with every player putting in a committed effort. Conor McCarthy converted 0-4 and Conal Ryan 3-1 to leave the scoreline 3-5 to 1-1 in our favour at half time. Our second half performance was less intense but we still managed to hold the 10 point margin gained in the first half with Conal Ryan scoring 1-0 and Alan O’Riordan 0-1 in the second half. Final score 4-6 to 1-5. U16 Footballers (Naomh Brid) also played Galtee Gaels on Monday June 25th in the championship but unfortunately lost out on the night on a scoreline of 4-6 to 1-6.
GAA Summer Camp this year is scheduled to take place from August 13th to 17th and is suitable for kids aged from 6 to 14 years. The club are looking for parents to volunteer at Break time during this week. Please contact Kevin Ryan on 086-8151585.
Best of Luck to Shane Ryan who has qualified for the 2012 Paralympics in London. Shane began rowing in 2007 and has enjoyed success as an individual, winning gold in 2010′s LTA (Leg, Trunk, Arm) Open World Indoor Rowing Championship. He is the youngest member of the LTA mixed four crew and his appearance at London 2012 should be the first of many Paralympic honours. Shane is a member of Castleconnel Rowing club and is currently training between there and the facilities at Limerick UL. He will be leaving with the other team members Kevin Du Toit, Sarah Caffrey and Ann-Marie McDaid for a pre-camp in Portugal in Mid-August following a send-off in Dublin and will go direct from there to London on August 24th. The event itself will take place on Dorney Lake at Eton College grounds from August 31st (heats) through to September 2nd (Final). The Club would like to congratulate Shane on his amazing achievements to date and wish him and the rest of the team the very best of luck at the upcoming 2012 Paralympics in London.
Fixtures: U16 Hurlers (Naomh Brid) playSt Senans away on Monday 9th July @ 7.30pm. U14 Footballers play Hospital on Wednesday July 18th in Hospital. The next round of County Intermediate hurling championship will be played week ending August 5th against Knockaderry. Next Junior B Hurling championship fixture will take place on July 13th , 19th and August 11th ,19th.
